The Buckley Rankings (week of 10/31/11)

1. St. Anthony's...had finishers 3 thru 8 in handling Chaminade and the rest in relatively easy fashion; have

    massive depth on all levels of program; for the rest of us...HELP; converted 5-man average to VCP is

    13:15

2. Monsignor Farrell...did not use top scorer in NY Section and still easily defeated a good Xavier team;

     must have watched St.Anthony's, as the Lions went 4 thru 9; averaged 13:35 without Galford; the

     Friars can't afford a major misstep

3. Chaminade...Awad and Ferencik went one-two at Sunken Meadow, but that was not enough; the

    VCP 2 1/2 course may help Flyers close the gap; Carreiro in rare underdog role; conversion time

    of 13:31

4. St. John the Baptist...Cougars felt they should have been closer than 16 pts. in arrears of Flyers;

    conversion time of 13:47; hard to envision a challenge to top three, but that's why they run the race

5. Xavier...Knights improve each week; Zuccarello rounding into top form; looking for higher finish

    at Cities (oops, Intersectionals...don't want to offend residents of Nassau/Suffolk); average of

    13;52

6. Kellenberg Memorial...distant 4th at NSCHSAA; a threat for a State berth, if top scorers would

    actually score: converted average of 14:04; this flock of Firebirds love Van Cortlandt ( a half-milers

    course for a team of half-milers)

7. Regis... Ryan Phillips as sectional winner gives Donodeo's charges a chance; 14:04 average; back

    scorers need to step up to catch their Jesuit counterpart

8. Iona Prep...reemergence of Tim Heffernon (2nd to Phillips in good time) buoys the hope for the

    Gaels; St. Patrick & St. Columba just transfered and are immediately eligible; St. Bridget is

    running for Ursuline; 14;43 average

9. Bishop Ford...BQ Champs led by race winner Devin Rocks; 14:37 average

10. Fordham Prep... struggled to 5th in NY at 14:45; the Dodgers said "wait 'til next year;" the Rams

      will be looking forward to the next three years with Frosh talent they have; I am encouraging these

      lads to consider basketball, baseball, and, especially, lacrosse

11. Archbishop Molloy...Stanners 2nd in BQ; slightly improved, but a lot more needed; 14:48 ave.

12. St. Joseph by the Sea...tough season for rebuilding Big Blue; 14:52 average

13. St. John's Prep...Gabe Vazquez solid performer; 14:53 average
