Freshmen: 30 min before race go on a 10 min jog – then set up and stretch at the starting line. 5 minutes before the race do 4 stride outs at the pace you plan on starting you race. Re tie you shoes and get on the starting line.
Varsity: Run for 15-20 min warm up jog which you will end at the starting line and stretch. 5 minutes before your start do 4 stride outs at the pace you want to start at. Remember to run a straight line into the woods and on the left side of the start through the middle of the baseball field as Coach Cleary explained at camp.
PLEASE stay under control the whole race and do not kick it in. I want you to run comfortably hard for the first mile and hard for the final 1 ˝ with no all out kick at the end.
